Anticancer Activities of Curcumin
نویسنده
چکیده
Curcumin, an active constituent of Curcuma longa, is responsible for the for anticarcinogenic activities which is mediated through multiple mechanisms. Curcumin affects the major transcription factors such as nuclear factor k-light chain-enhancer of activated B cell(NF-kB) and activator protein-1 (AP-1).These factors regulate inflammation and are responsible for cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis.

متن کاملDiscovery of a new function of curcumin which enhances its anticancer therapeutic potency
Curcumin has received immense attention over the past decades because of its diverse biological activities and recognized as a promising drug candidate in a large number of diseases. However, its clinical application has been hindered due to extremely low aqueous solubility, chemical stability, and cellular uptake. In this study, we discovered quite a new function of curcumin, i.e. pH-responsiv...

Curcumin has a broad spectrum of pharmacological activities, one of them is anticancer activity that is mediated through multiple mechanisms. The major disadvantage associated with the use of curcumin is its low bioavailability due to its poor aqueous solubility. Nanoformulations of curcumin provide an effective solution for this problem. In this study, we have synthesized curcumin Ag nanoconju...
متن کاملCellular uptake and anticancer effects of mucoadhesive curcumin-containing chitosan nanoparticles.
Curcumin, which is derived from turmeric has gained much attention in recent years for its anticancer activities against various cancers. However, due to its poor absorption, rapid metabolism and elimination, curcumin has a very low oral bioavailability. Therefore, we have formulated mucoadhesive nanoparticles to deliver curcumin to the colon, such that prolonged contact between the nanoparticl...
